Downtown Huntington Beach

Downtown Huntington Beach is the heart of Surf City and a place to enjoy life. With a pier, beach, great bars, fabulous restaurants, ice cream shops, nail salons, and fashion boutiques, this city is a fun place to spend a day.

The 9.5-mile long beach in Huntington Beach is a popular attraction for locals and visitors, and offers plenty of things to do. You can take a dip in the ocean, play volleyball, or rent a sand wheelchair to glide along the sand in style.

You can also check out the International Surfing Museum in downtown Huntington Beach to learn about the history of surfing. Its mission is to impart the local love of surfing by taking visitors through the historical and cultural significance of the sport.

Lake Park

When you visit Lake Park, you'll feel like you've been transported back in time. It's a little oasis of shaded green lawns and wooden park benches surrounded by lovely homes off old-fashioned Main Street.

The park is home to playgrounds, horseshoe pits, clubhouses, stainless outdoor barbecue facilities and a host of other amenities that make it a fun place for families to play.

You can even catch a glimpse of the ocean as you walk through the park and around its perimeter. If you're a fan of fishing, the beach is a great place to try your hand at this activity.

Central Park

Sprawling over 356 acres, Huntington Central Park is the largest city-owned park in Orange County. It is home to many fun activities and features including Lake Huntington, a disc golf course, Kathy May's lakeview cafe, a dog park, the Shipley Nature Center and more.

A wide range of sporting events are held at this park throughout the year, and it also boasts a natural amphitheater, bandstand and picnic areas. If you want to stay active, there are plenty of trails for a bike ride or jog.

Roller Blading

This is a sport that's fast becoming very popular in Huntington Beach and it is possible to rent skates from beach concessions (Zack's is a good option). The 8.3-mile cement path runs along the entire beachfront, so it's easy to find your spot and start skating.

The skate rental price is $8 for a one-hour session, and you can buy a sand wheelchair, if needed, at the same concessions. You can also rent paddleboards and kayaks, and there are lots of other water-based activities to try.

Fishing

You'll need a California fishing license to fish from a public pier, and you should bring your own gear. You'll also need a flashlight and waterproof matches.

There is also a parking fee at the beach at the Huntington Beach Pier, but this is different from the fees at Bolsa Chica State Beach and Sunset Beach.
